[watching] UK TV Ratings Thread

The return of Challenge Anneka was watched by 0.9 million viewers on Channel 5. This is a second attempt at a revival, after ITV's earlier revival was dropped after just two episodes due to poor ratings.

And cancelled.

These are the 7-day consolidated figures. The BARB no longer make the final 28-day consolidated ratings public.

It appears that ITV are certainly doing better, with 7 out of 10 programmes in the Top 10 being shown on ITV1. Looking at the data, 10 of the top 20 are ITV1 programmes, BBC One have 7, and Channel Four have 3.

Once the powerhouses of British television, the three main soaps have seen the biggest decline in viewership than any other programme. Once able to claim more than double the viewing figures of programmes such as Doctor Who, now they are often left in the dust. Although when the TV landscape is void of any big drams or event television, Coronation Street occasionally creeps back into the top 10 in the official BARB chart. Whilst Emmerdale can make the top 20, EastEnders rarely breaks into the top 30.

Below are the average viewing figures in millions for 2023.

Coronation Street: 4.41m

Emmerdale: 3.83m

EastEnders: 3.52m
