Other Games Savage World/Mutant Chronicles One Shot

Hi all,
I am planning to take the plunge and try running something on Roll20. More specifically a one-shot Mutant Chronicles adventure Savage Worlds.

The date is Monday May 22, 19:00 UK time Pregens will be available.

If you are interested, the details and sign up is here:.

Any questions, let me know.

The game went really well. It was my first time on Roll20 and, other than one, all the players were just random sign ups, but it all clicked really quickly. Before you knew it, we were playing like we'd all played together before.

Only half the players had played Savage Worlds before, but we managed fine. Even just on a free account you can get a good degree of automation for Savage Worlds with Roll20 by exporting the pregens created on Savaged.us as json files and importing them into the Roll20 character sheet which means the player get tool tip descriptions for their Edges and Powers even without owning the rulebook.

On a personal note, I feel I finally found my "Mutant Chronicles voice". I had run a short MC campaign last year, but it never really came to life and eventually I just fast-forwarded events to end it quickly. This time it felt right. It may not have been the grimdark 90s vision of MC the original authors envision, more like the Saturday Morning MC animated series, but that is what works for me.

I am going to try running Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands one shot on Roll20 next. Let's see how that works out. I should post the game advert here as games at Euro-friendly times are still comparatively harder to find.

Please do advertise here, I am very excited and happy about the idea of more Savage and in particular on Roll20.

Excellent, glad it went well 🙂

How did you find running SWADE?

I like SWADE. It is very complete, efficient and I think it really understands gamers and what they need. I've running various games since second half of last year starting with Mutant Chronicles and then Day After Ragnarok. It's a little crunchier than what I normally go for, but there are so many fun settings for it that it's worth the extra effort. Also Savaged.us is really a great resource. Resources like that can make all the difference.

I’ve on,y read the QuickStart personally, however it looks interesting and they have given their power armour some interesting rules which make sense and seem very thematic.

I hope your game went well, PolarBlues. For what it's worth I was the lead writer on Mutant Chronicles 3rd Ed so if you have any questions, feel free to fire them over :)
