Disney Announce New Star Wars Projects

It's the 45th anniversary of the release of A New Hope on May 25th. That's why it's been chosen over the 4th, because it's more poignant.
Ok, that makes more sense. I didn't get to see Star Wars till late June 1977, so the only May date that rings a bell for me is the 4th.

The UK released date was 27th December 1977. So many on this board would have likely seen it six months after the US premier.

I didn’t see A New Hope until it was shown on ITV in the early 1980s. Although I did get to see the whole trilogy back to back at the cinema in 1982.

I definitely remember standing in the snow waiting to see it with my Dad, outside the Odeon in Newcastle. Proper formative life moment, that one!

Andor season one has wrapped filming, and both Ahsoka and The Acolyte are heading into production. A mysterious unnamed Star Wars project has also gone into pre-production. No news yet to what it will be.

The Book of Boba Fett has become the most streamed series of 2022 (so far). However, it could be eclipsed by the Obi Wan series in May.

Obi Wan Kenobi premiere has been pushed back two days to Friday 27th May, but we're going to get the first two episodes instead of one.

Kathleen Kennedy has announced that three new live-action Star Wars films are on the way. James Mangold’s movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi, while Dave Filoni’s will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s film will be set after the events of Rise of Skywalker, and feature Daisy Ridley back as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.
