[D&D] Baldur's Gate 3 will combine the best of Divinity and D&D 5th Edition

Divinity: Original Sin 2 developer Larian Studios is working on its follow up to one of the best RPGs on PC—a third adventure with a new party of heroes and more fate-of-the-world quests. Just what you'd expect from Baldur's Gate 3. Cue fainting elves and gasping halflings. 18 years after the Bhaalspawn saga came to a close, we're finally returning to the Forgotten Realms.

"You miss a lot in D&D—if the dice are bad, you miss," he says. "That doesn't work well in a videogame. If I do that, you're going to review it and say it's shit. Our approach has been implementing it as pure as we can, and then just seeing what works and what doesn't. Stuff that doesn't work, we start adapting until it does."

I don't really do video games anymore. I like the idea of them, but get bored really quickly, so tend not to bother any more.

Black Isle Studios/Bioware's Baldur's Gate was the series that piqued my interest into the whole role playing game malarkey as I saw it then.

After trying out other Computer Role Playing Games powered by the same Infinity engine like Ice Wind Dale, I picked up the books by R. A. Salvatore focusing on the Ice Wind Dale and then followed up with adventures of the Drow ranger, Drizzt. So when Wizards of the Coast announced the talent search in 2003, I was finally part of the traditional table top hobby by then, and got truly inspired by Keith Baker's Eberron.

So for nostalgia reasons, I may get this Baldur's Gate III Computer Game, though since it has no relation to the earlier two editions, both of those were powered by the isometric Infinity Engine, I would have preferred a different brand name without the numeric three, so just maybe a name like "Baldur's Gate: Rise of the Mindflayers" or some such.
